Membership

Our membership objective is to establish a community where members can exchange their experiences and find support.  As a professional organisation, we are committed to upholding high standards of practice and ethics among our members. To ensure this, we have certain requirements that all members must meet.

Age Requirement:

All members must be at least 18 years of age. This is to ensure that our members are mature enough to handle the responsibilities that come with being a Shamanic Healer.

Insurance:

All members must hold appropriate insurance. We have an affinity scheme with Balens Insurance, which means that all members can receive reduced fee insurance. This insurance is essential for protecting both you and your clients.

Ongoing Professional Development:

All members must agree to ongoing professional development (CPD). This is important for keeping up-to-date with the latest developments in holistic healing and ensuring that you are providing the best possible care for your clients.

Code of Conduct and Ethics:

All members must agree to follow the SHC Code of Conduct and Ethics. The purpose of this Code is to set standards for all practising healers and provide a source of reference of these standards for the public. By agreeing to follow this Code, you are committing to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ethics.

We take these requirements very seriously and expect all members to do the same. By meeting these requirements, you will be joining a community of like-minded professionals who are dedicated to providing the best possible care for their clients.

The source of the word shaman comes from certain tribal people of Siberia, the Evenki (formerly known as Tungus or Solon) people, and specifically relates to them.  It has been applied more generally to other cultures around the world, losing its original relationship with the Evenki people.  This generalisation of the word can be problematic in that it reduces nuance and groups many cultures together that although they may have commonalities are in fact different.  In respect and gratitude to the Evenki people, the Shamanic Healers Circle describes shamanic healer members as practitioners and not shaman.
